Charlie Puth 03.07.16

Charlie Puth performed at the LiveWire in Scottsdale, AZ on March 7, 2016.  Puth is touring in support of his 2016 album release Nine Track Mind.

Even if you don’t know his name, there’s a good chance you know his work.  Puth is be best known for his duet with Wiz Khalifa See You Again from the soundtrack for the movie Furious 7.  The song was written for the movie as a tribute to the movie’s late star Paul Walker.  Puth co-wrote the music and lyrics and sang the non-rap vocals for the song.  The song spent 12 weeks at number 1 on the Billboard charts, has been viewed 1.5 billion times on YouTube, has been certified platinum 4 times in the U.S. and earned Puth 3 Grammy Award nominations for Song of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Song Written for Visual Media – all of which were pretty big achievements for a young artist who had yet to release his first major label album at the time See You Again hit the air.

Puth performed to a sold-out crowd at LiveWire. His music clearly resonates with his enthusiastic fans who turned out in full support for him.  Puth spent most of his time at the piano where he seemed most comfortable.  He did a nice job building a rapport with the audience by sharing the stories behind many of his songs, which helped to bring the audience into his world.

Seventeen of the remaining 19 shows on Puth’s current U.S. tour are sold out.  After finishing the U.S. leg in April he moves on to shows in a number of European countries and then Japan.  If you missed this show, there’s a good chance you’ll get to see him again soon, except that it’ll be at a much large venue, you’ll be much further back from the stage than you could have been at LiveWire and tickets will be much more expensive.  And you’ll go anyway because Puth is just that good.
