Shows We’re Excited For 7.1 – 7.7

As the Phoenix area continues to wilt in the heat, hoping for some relief from the impending monsoon season, here are the shows we’re excited to see in the week to come.

TOTALLY 80’S LIVE @ LIVEWIRE on 7/1

The 80s are definitely back in vogue.  This summer sees tours by Duran Duran, Rick Springfield and Def Leppard running through the Phoenix area.

This retro tour features three 80’s classic bands that helped define new wave music: Missing Persons, Bow Wow Wow and When in Rome II (successors to the original When in Rome).   Here’s I Want Candy from Bow Wow Wow to jog your memory and, if you’re of the right age, make you feel just a little nostalgic.

AUTHORITY ZERO @ Marquee Theatre on 7/2

Hometown hard rock heroes  Authority Zero will be at the Marquee Theatre on July 2 for the last show of their third annual Summer Sickness tour.  Formed in 1994 in Mesa, Authority Zero has been ripping it for over 20 years now.

SELENA GOMEZ @ Talking Stick Resort Arena on 7/5

The biggest concert of the upcoming week is Selena Gomez who brings her Revival Tour arena show to Phoenix on July 5.  The Revival Tour runs May 2016 through December 2016 and will take Gomez to 81 cities across North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zeland.  The Revival Tour has been generally well received as Gomez comes into her own with songs representing both her tribulations and triumphs in transitioning from a young Disney star into a mature artist.

CHICAGO @ the Celebrity Theatre on 7/6

Chicago has been exciting fans across the globe since its inception in 1967 – almost 50 years of playing “rock and roll with horns,” as they would describe their music.  Chicago has sold a remarkable 100 million albums over its existence and was finally (much too late) inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this past April.  The opportunity to see Chicago in an intimate environment like the Celebrity Theatre will be a huge treat.
