Mixing songs from Fitz and the Tantrums’ recently released self-titled album with their 2013 album More Than Just a Dream definitely made last night’s show “More than Just a Dream” for the band’s fans. With high energy, and a great atmosphere they opened with Get Right Back, which got the crowd really going.

Lead singer Michael Fitzpatrick was accompanied by Noelle Scagg’s vocals. Noelle’s voice was highlighted, and more dominant, which made hearing Fitz and the Tantrums play live a very different experience than listening to the band in the comfort of earphones. Both utilized the stage by moving around, interacting with the crowd and the talented band around them.

It is always great to hear the first few seconds of instrumentals followed by the screams of fired up fans as they realize what jam will be played next, which was shown in Out of My League, a personal favorite of mine, and a clear crowd pleaser. This alternative band with a 70’s flair entertained all in the Marquee Theatre from the moment they stepped on stage to their last three encore songs, HandClap, 6AM, and Fitz’s most popular song that has been featured in movie trailers, video games, commercials, and has over 12,000,000 views on YouTube, The Walker.

There are bands that play in concert, and you leave the night thinking, “They’re so much better live.” and in my personal experience, Fitz and the Tantrums was one of those bands.
