Our Favorite Music Festivals

Our Favorite Music Festivals

While Phoenix hosts a wide array of outdoor music festivals from February through May, for our money our two favorites are the McDowell Mountain Music Festival (M3F) and Pot of Gold Music Festival.  Both deliver national touring artists and M3F throws in a number of local artists as well.  If we had to go to just one – well, we wouldn’t.  We’d beg, borrow or steal (to use a cliché) in order to get to both.  A couple random thoughts and observations:

  • It’s really nice to see Flogging Molly back after a several year St. Patty’s Day absence
  • It’s nice to see Pot of Gold go back to back days instead of taking a day off in between – I think that provides better continuity for 2-day pass holders
  • If I had to, had to, had to, had to pick only one day to go to, for my musical preferences, it would be the West Stage of Pot of Gold day 2 with a very close second being the Main Stage of Day 1 of M3F.
  • That being said, there’s really something for everyone with Rap & Reggae on Pot of Gold Day 1 and EDM & Dance on M3F Day 2.

Two festivals, five days of music, the beautiful Arizona weather – sounds perfect to us.  Here are the highlights of each of the festivals:
